Looks like the real world economy is starting to grossly effect our virtual economy. It was expected, but for lack of better words - it still really sucks.
Seems every week (if not more often) the big topic in the CCGen Forums is "Who's Buying Credits?" With each passing day, it's becoming more difficult to sell one's credits to a registered reseller. Why? Because with no customers to buy the credits already in circulation, resellers can't afford to take on any more.
There are the lucky few who are partnered with the larger reselling companies that so far are guaranteed their credits will be purchased. But for the rest of the content creating community, they are stuck with large amounts of credits and nothing to do with them but sit and stare at the growing number.
It won't be long before the price of credits drops drastically. That isn't as good as it sounds. Right now, the average resell rate is $46 per 100k. That's not a lot of money. The lower the demand, the less value the credits hold - which means the less value developers hold.
What can we do as a community to help fix the economy? For starters, we can all get together and do our best to advertise for the credit resellers. Even if you aren't partnered with a particular company, it's a good idea to support your favorites - run some shout outs, tell your friends, etc. Every little bit helps! Additionally, it's a good idea to help support the entire community by advertising IMVU. More new faces means an opportunity for us all! More people to buy more credits!

Another option is to stop making bundles for imvu to sell for cash.
As long as imvu is pumping funny money into the imvu economy the value of every cr is going to drop. I guess the badged where a nice drain, but that hype seems over.
Imvu needs to buy back credits from their "pro" developers for a good price. Just to ensure that quality products keep being made, because in the end, if the lollirots etall cant live from making imvu products they are going to find other jobs leaving imvu with old fashioned fashion.
I guess that must sound weird to imvu, paying the people that keep their product running, but maybe they'll get used to that idea. |joeri
When I first joined IMVU in Nov 2007, the big promo bundles were few and far between - they were special and the competition involved to get yours sold by IMVU was incredibly steep. It's my understanding that prior to that time, those promo bundles were even more special and rare. Now we get several new ones per week - if not more often.
The bundles themselves aren't the problem so much as IMVU including credits with them. In fact, I recall for a short period of time, bundles were offered both with and without credits as many users complained that they didn't want or need the credits - they just wanted the bundle itself. IMVU obliged, but I don't think they stuck with it.
IMVU took away the ability for new users to see shout outs - which really hurt the resellers because new users buy credits most. Now they have taken shout outs out of the 2.0 client entirely and made sure to give a nice, big space for new users to buy their overpriced credits within the client.
I'm lucky to be partnered with a reseller who always buys from me and for a nice price of $46 per 100k. But that won't last much longer and IMVU is actually driving up the price of many of their packages - such as the avatar name which is no longer the $7/8 whatever it was. It's now over $13!
OMGOSH a avatar name is 20$???? when did that happen ???
